You can read our full studio policies and procedures here, but here are some commonly asked questions about our policies:
How do I get started at New Moon?
If you are brand-new to the aerial arts, the best place to start is with our ABC drop-in classes. These are a set of 1-hour classes designed to introduce you to some of the basic skills needed for aerial training. If you’d prefer to work at your own pace, you could instead schedule a private lesson or two to try it out. Invite a few friends to join you – the per-person cost goes down as the number of students goes up!
If you have previous experience in aerial arts, contact us to set us a class placement assessment to determine where you fit in our program.
I need to miss a class. What’s the make-up policy?
You must provide at least 24 hours notice if you are going to miss a class in order to qualify for a make-up. For students eligible for open studio, make-ups are credited as open studio punchcards that are good through the following session. No more than 2 make-ups will be assigned per class per 7 or 8-week session. (6-week sessions will permit only 1 make-up). Students who are ineligible for open studio will receive account credit equal to the value of on open studio punch.
To obtain a make-up credit, enter your upcoming absence on the Manage Absences page. It may take us a week or more to process the absence and assign the credit, but you may email us if you want it sooner.
Beginning with the March/April session, students may trade 2 open studio make-up credits for 1 class drop-in. Drop-ins to session classes require instructor approval.
How do I find out when registration opens and what’s going on at the studio?
The best way to get our news is to join our email list! You can do that here. If you are under 18, or have a child interested in aerial, we have a youth-specific mailing list as well. Join our youth list here.
Additionally, we recommend you follow us on social media. You can find us on Facebook: @newmoon.movementarts and on Instagram @newmoon.movementarts
I joined your mailing list, but I’m not seeing your emails. What’s up?
Our emails are probably going to either your spam folder or your promotions tab.
First, look in your spam folder. If you see our emails there, simply adding info@newmoonmovementarts.com to your trusted contact list should solve that problem.
If we’re not in your spam folder, we’re probably in your promotions tab. If you use Gmail, you’ll find the promotions tab above the list of new emails in your primary inbox view.

To make sure you see our emails in your primary inbox, simply click and drag one of our emails from the “promotions” tab to the “primary” tab.
I’ve seen dogs at the studio. What’s your dog policy?
We do allow dogs in the studio on a case-by-case basis, but we do have a few rules regarding our canine friends:
- Always ask before bringing your pet. Each animal on site requires advance permission from our landlord, so we need time in advance to seek this clearance.
- We have 2 resident studio dogs- Buddy and Osito. If your dog is reactive to other dogs, please do not bring them to the studio.
- Dogs must be leashed, crated, or secured at all times and within your sightline while training. Dogs cannot be left unattended in the lobby.
- Dogs cannot be brought to open studio.
I’m visiting from out of town. Can I train at New Moon while i’m here?
Welcome to Seattle! We love to make new friends!
If you’ve never done aerial before, you are welcome to try it out at one of our drop-in ABC classes. No experience is necessary, and there is no commitment.
If you are an experienced aerialist and would like to train at open studio, please email us to set up a brief, free open studio evaluation.
If you are an experienced aerialist and would like to drop-in to a class, you would need to set up a 30 minute class-placement assessment to determine which class level is appropriate for you. Assessments cost $42.50 and can be arranged by emailing info@newmoonmovementarts.com
